LGBT Equality – A Woman’s Perspective

We are pleased to invite you to our next Viewpoint event where you can hear from two inspirational speakers as they share their own personal and professional experiences of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) equality, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and network. The event is supported by the University of Portsmouth.


The Speakers: 



Mandy McBain MBE, spent over 20 years serving in the Royal Navy. She was awarded an MBE for her work on LGB equality within the armed services and has appeared in the Independent on Sundays 100 most influential LGBT people “pink list” for the past 3 years. Having now left the RN she now works for the gay campaigning organisation Stonewall. 




Inspector Julie Fry MBE, joined Hampshire Constabulary in 1990. In the 2013 honours list Julie was recognised for her work in ensuring increased reporting of hate crime and improved confidence in local policing from the LGB&T communities. Amongst her many achievements in supporting the LGB&T communities in Hampshire, she played a leading role in the development of the Lesbian and Gay Liaison Officers (LAGLOs).
